Interim Campus Pastor | Joel Schroeder
Joel & Kay Schroeder currently reside in Newton! They have two adult sons, Jordan and Justen. Joel grew up around Hillsboro, Kansas and graduated from Bethel College in 1988 with BA in Social Work. He was called into ministry in 1991 as Youth Pastor at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, Nebraska. Joel was ordained in 1998. In 2004, Joel transitioned to the pastoral team at First Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas where he served until November of 2019. Joel has now been in ministry 28 years. He loves God, loves people, and loves witnessing the extraordinary when the two come together! Joel loves being active. He tries to work out regularly and take as many trips as possible to the mountains (since he has not been able to move them to Kansas…yet). He enjoys cooking and baking, doing home improvement projects, being outdoors, watching sports, drinking coffee, and more recently taking on the challenge of jigsaw puzzles. But most of all, Joel loves engaging, encouraging, equipping, and empowering people as they discover their purpose and thrive in this life blessed by God.
